Chores & Aesthetics

Chores & Aesthetics

Before we get too into the post, I will be honest that this is a paid promotion, I want to be fully transparent, but in thinking about pandemic days I really can get behind this collaboration, and it’s a local business from when I was in Lynchburg, VA! I did have some good times and I wish I had taken advantage of this business more then! Now, back to our regularly schedule blog:

In the spirit of getting back to blogging in 2021 I want to tell you all – I love a good aesthetic.

First, my house is styled well with a coastal eclectic vintage vibe – I know it’s a mouthful (photos will be coming soon). Basically, it’s a collection of thrift, borrowed things from friends, and hand me downs that somehow all work together.

Second, my dog Nimbus – his color is blue, blue leash, blue beds, blue everything. I also didn’t pay attention to the fact that my parakeet Pearl is a white parakeet, and Nimbus is a white mini poodle with some oatmeal coloring as well. On brand, and on aesthetic.

Third, if you check my Instagram feed (personally) I think my clothing game is strong. Whether it’s old navy clearance pieces, target pieces, vintage inspired, or vintage pieces (I have an article coming soon about one piece in particular) I personally love my closet it’s like my portfolio of where my money has gone over the last decade. There is one thing to do to help with that style game, laundry!

There’s also one major chore I hate doing at home, you guessed it, laundry! But on to the topic at hand now that I have established how aesthetic I like to be.

Chores are so rude, I know that’s hopefully made you laugh but it is true. Whether Dishes, Trash, Sweeping, Vacuuming I don’t like any of them but my least favorite is laundry. Which I would say is very important. Whether you own, rent, have a washer and dryer, or don’t; laundry is the absolute worst. Chores like anything can be an adventure so incorporate your aesthetic into chores.

“What does that even mean?”

Honestly I am figuring it out and it’s constantly changing, but sometimes you have to switch the monotony of chores up, recently I was watching a show on discovery plus and Nate Berkus (an interior designer) said [about New York], “going to the grocery store is an adventure.” I want life to be like that, an adventure regardless of the destination.

Let’s think on how we can do that with laundry! To me laundry is the most dreadul tasks besides doing it correctly to protect your flawless closet it’s just time consuming. Between detergents, water temperatures, cycles, and then the right machinery it’s a lot for me or anyone to take in. Also, don’t forget following the direction on your garments because it’s not actually as simple as your mom or guardian made it look growing up. Also your home or apartment washer and dryer may not be able to handle that comfy duvet or bed spread – a laundromat like our partner for today’s post can!

So, if you are tired of the same ol’ same ol’ switch it up and go to a laundry mat. You can search around you I guarantee there is one. Depending on your location though in Virginia maybe try The Clothes Spin – they have a few locations! I used to live in Lynchburg and remember doing Laundry in a dorm or my apartment that was not nearly as aesthetic as this.

The cool thing about The Clothes Spin is that they are 24-hour, a specific location of a  laundromat near Gretna, VA open 24-hours I don’t remember many things being open passed 10 in my time in the Lynchburg area. I think it’s an awesome thing especially during these pandemic days to have a fully functioning space to clean clothes regardless of time!

Chores are monotonous and if you are busy like me or need to come up with Instagram content like so many of us want to do switch up your chores and go to a laundry mat! Let’s hope there’s a The Clothes Spin near you!

Some other worthy notes: be sure to use pandemic protection like masks. Make sure you bring plenty of detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets – you don’t want to run out or maybe you can help someone else who runs out of those necessities. Some may still function on quarters so bring change or dollars to exchange would help or some may have cards, call before you go to verify which you need. Also don’t forget your baskets and clothes!

Thanks for reading everyone! Maybe I can turn this into a segment of how to turn monotonous chores into something fun and aesthetic! Let me know in the comments what you think about that type of series!

Until next time!
